The Legacy of the Hubble Telescope A Journey Through the Universe

One of the most well-known scientific tools ever made is the Hubble Telescope. The notion of sending a telescope into space was initially presented by astronomer Lyman Spitzer in the 1940s, which is where the narrative of it begins. As a result of atmospheric distortion, a ground-based telescope's ability to capture clean photographs of the universe is constrained, according to Spitzer.

Spitzer's dream wouldn't materialize for several decades, though. NASA started developing the Hubble Space Telescope in the 1970s. Edwin Hubble, an astronomer who produced numerous ground-breaking discoveries about the universe in the early 20th century, was the inspiration for the telescope's name.

In 1990, the Hubble Telescope was sent into orbit, but issues soon developed. The telescope's primary mirror had a defect that caused the images it transmitted to be warped and fuzzy. By launching a repair mission to space in 1993 and installing correction optics on the telescope, NASA was able to resolve the issue.

After the mirror issue was fixed, the Hubble Telescope started to provide ground-breaking findings. With the help of its pictures of far-off galaxies and nebulae, astronomers were able to learn new things about the universe. The Hubble Telescope allowed us to look farther into space than ever before, helped astronomers determine the age of the universe, and offered proof that dark matter exists.

The Hubble Telescope has undergone numerous repairs and upgrades throughout the years, with the most recent service mission taking place in 2009. The telescope keeps making fascinating discoveries, and its photographs have motivated people all across the planet.
